Detailed 15-Day Ultimate Uganda Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
In Search of Uganda’s Prehistoric Bird
After breakfast, travel to Mabamba Swamp, located on the shores of Lake Victoria.
Board a local motorized canoe and explore the papyrus channels in search of the remarkable Shoebill. Your experienced local guide will help locate this iconic wetland bird while also identifying other bird species.
Continue towards Jinja, Uganda’s adventure capital. Enjoy the changing landscapes and rural communities along the way.
Arrive in Jinja, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 2: Mabamba Swamp Shoebill Experience – Jinja
In morning after breakfast transfer to the Kinigi Park headquarters by 7:00am where you will be briefed by park rangers about the rules concerning trekking. After briefing, start off with trekking along the paths in the bamboo forests, it is an amazing activity where it can take between 2 to 6 hours to track the mountain gorillas.
When you meet the gorillas face to face you will watch them jumping from branch to branch, feed, play among other things; Only 1 hour is given to trekkers to watch the gentle giants.
You will also see buffaloes, monkeys, birds, and elephants through the forests. Later, transfer back to the lodge for lunch, check out and transfer back to Kigali to your accommodation or the airport.

Day 3: White-Water Rafting on the Nile
Adventure on the Mighty River Nile
After breakfast, prepare for an exciting white-water rafting experience on the River Nile.
Your professional rafting team will provide safety equipment and a detailed briefing before you begin. Enjoy a thrilling combination of rapids and calmer sections while experiencing the scenery surrounding the Nile.
After rafting, return to Jinja for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing at your hotel or enjoying an optional activity.

Day 4: Jinja – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Walking With Uganda’s Rhinos
After breakfast, travel towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
After checking into your accommodation and having lunch, prepare for a guided rhino trekking experience.
Unlike a traditional game drive, rhino trekking allows you to explore the sanctuary on foot with experienced rangers. Learn about rhino behaviour, conservation and the importance of protecting Uganda’s rhino population.
After the trek, return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 5: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls National Park
The Nile, Murchison Falls and Wildlife
After breakfast, continue northwards towards Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park.
Your first major experience is the Top of Murchison Falls, where the mighty Nile is forced through a narrow gorge before plunging over the rocks below.
Enjoy a guided experience around the top of the falls before continuing to your accommodation.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Victoria Nile towards the bottom of Murchison Falls. Watch for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and abundant birdlife.

Day 6: Full-Day Murchison Falls Wildlife Safari
Explore Uganda’s Wilderness
Rise early for a morning game drive through Murchison Falls National Park.
Search for elephants, buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, Uganda kob, Jackson’s hartebeest, warthogs and other wildlife. With patience and good timing, you may also encounter predators such as lions and leopards.
Enjoy lunch before continuing your afternoon wildlife exploration.

Day 7: Murchison Falls – Kibale National Park
From Savannah Wilderness to Ancient Rainforest
After breakfast, leave Murchison Falls and travel south towards Kibale National Park.
The landscape gradually changes from open savannah to greener countryside, cultivated hills and tropical forest.
After arriving at your lodge, enjoy a Bigodi community and cultural experience. Learn about local life, traditions, farming practices, crafts and the relationship between communities and the forest.
Return to your lodge and prepare for your chimpanzee trekking adventure.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Trekking – Equator – Queen Elizabeth
Into the Forest With Our Closest Wild Relatives
After an early breakfast, proceed to the chimpanzee trekking briefing point.
Receive a briefing from ranger guides before entering Kibale Forest in search of habituated chimpanzee communities.
Once you locate the chimpanzees, observe their natural behaviour, including feeding, grooming, climbing and communication.
After the trek, continue towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, stopping at the Equator crossing for photographs and a brief geographical experience.
Arrive at your lodge in the evening.

Day 9: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Savannah Wildlife and the Kazinga Channel
Start the day with a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Search for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, waterbucks, warthogs and other antelope species. You may also encounter lions and leopards.
After lunch and relaxation, enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, one of Uganda’s most celebrated wildlife experiences.
Look for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and numerous bird species along the channel.

Day 10: Queen Elizabeth – Ishasha – Bwindi
Searching for the Legendary Tree-Climbing Lions
After breakfast, travel through the spectacular Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Ishasha is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Your guide will search the branches of large fig and acacia trees where lions sometimes rest.
The area also offers opportunities to see elephants, buffaloes, topi, antelopes and other wildlife.
Continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where the savannah gradually gives way to rolling hills, terraced farms and dense rainforest.

Day 11: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Mountain Gorilla Encounter
Today is the highlight of your Uganda safari.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the appropriate Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point. Receive a detailed briefing on trekking procedures, safety, conservation and responsible gorilla viewing.
Then enter the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.
The trek can involve dense vegetation and steep slopes. Once you locate the gorillas, spend time observing their natural behaviour, including feeding, grooming, playing and moving through the forest.
After the trek, return to your lodge and enjoy a well-earned evening of relaxation.

Day 12: Bwindi – Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, leave Bwindi and travel through the spectacular Kigezi Highlands towards Lake Bunyonyi.
Enjoy the beautiful terraced hills and scenic countryside before arriving at the lake.
Check into your lakeside accommodation and spend the afternoon relaxing. You may enjoy the views, read beside the lake or choose an optional canoe or island experience.

Day 13: Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo
Walking Into the African Wilderness
After breakfast, travel towards Lake Mburo National Park.
After lunch and some relaxation, prepare for a guided walking safari with a trained ranger.
Walking allows you to experience the wilderness at a slower and more intimate pace. Learn how to identify animal tracks, footprints, calls and other signs of wildlife.
Look out for zebras, impalas, topi, warthogs, buffaloes and other wildlife.
